Pamela Pavliscak, founder of Change Sciences is leading some fascinating work with purpose. Technology has been burdened with much of our 21st century misery, but with intention can be a force for positivity and happiness in deeper ways.

Berliners told me it’s a highlight of the year so I stayed for Transmediale ‘the post-digital culture event’ held annually at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
The programme was not compatible with my simple 8-bit brain. Even the veterans I petitioned for guidance admitted to information overload, apt considering this year’s theme of anxiety. My final strategy was to neglect most lectures and prioritise hanging out, absorbing installations and workshopping. From these I’m teasing out one strand of interest but for more on the wider experience, read Renee Carmichael’s review.
Beautiful rituals – a speculative proposal for behaviour change

People are suffering from deep loneliness. It may be part of the human condition, but here in the West it’s an epidemic of sorts.
When someone admits to being lonely, “obvious” solutions like joining a club, signing up to night classes or annoying people at bus stops are offered. *Sigh*
How can people just connect with each others’ presence more: (a simple pure presence) without advice, clinginess, deranged moods or agendas?

One month, 13 students, countless visiting artists and a huge array of creative coding. I was delighted to take the opportunity this July to take part in ‘Responsive Spaces’. The culmination was an interactive installation group show in a warehouse space in Urban Spree, Friedrichstein. Many thanks to Rachel Uwa, the brains behind the genius. A visitor to this blog, Aghar just asked “I have this question: What is a feeling, emotion, and sensation? are they different things?”. Thanks for asking!
